Oh, life, it's bigger
It's bigger than you
And you are not me
The lengths that I will go to
The distance in your eyes
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up
That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight
Losin' my religion
Tryin' to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no, I've said too much
I haven't said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try
Every whisper
Of every waking hour
I'm choosin' my confessions
Tryin' to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt, lost and blinded fool, fool
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up
Consider this, the hint of the century
Consider this, the slip
That brought me to my knees, failed
What if all these fantasies come
Flailing around
Now, I've said too much
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try
But that was just a dream
That was just dream
That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight
Losin' my religion
Tryin' to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no, I've said too much
I haven't said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try
But that was just a dream
Try, cry, why try?
That was just a dream
Just a dream
Just a dream, dream
NOTES:
The lengths that I will go to = the things I'm willing to do; it's a reference to the phrase "to go to great lengths to do sth", which means to try very hard to achieve something (wszystko co byłbym w stanie zrobić, cały ten wysiłek)
in the corner - a reference to the phrase "to be in a tight corner", meaning to be in a difficult situation
every waking hour = every momenty; we use this phrase to stress that something happens a lot, is constant or that we are constantly focused on it
(something) of the century = the biggest, most remarkable we use this phrase to show that something was extreme in some way or very unique: eg. "the crime of the century", "the show of the century"; in Polish we use the phrase "stulecia" like in "powódź stulecia"
the slip - potknięcie, błąd, przejęzyczenie
The song actually uses all of these meanings at once. The "przejęzyczenie" meaning connects nicely with the previous line - if we slip while talking about something, it may be a hint to what we're truly feeling. The"potknięcie" meaning connects better with the following line and the image of falling. The lyrics play with the all of the meanings.
Flailing around = I'm moving uncotrollably
This verb can be translated into Polish in many ways, depending what is moving (wiercić się, rzucać się, wymachiwać rękami, gramolić się, but also falować na wietrze). We mostly use it to talk about people moving their arms or legs. The way in which the singer moves in the video could be described as flailing around ;)
